This page is a quick overview of know Willingales currently living overseas. (as at October 2002)

Australia seems to have been the most popular destination, with 14 Willingales listed in the Australian White Pages (Telephone Directory) during October 2002.

South Africa has just 3 Willingales listed in the White Pages. We have details of a Dorothy Eveline Willingale, youngest daughter of Henry Thomas Willingale and Annie (nee Bulbrook) who emigrated to South Africa in 1915 when she was 21. We also know their is (or was) a Willingale Farm somewhere in South Africa and are currently trying to obtain further information on this.

New Zealand has one Willingale Family (your webmasters Aunt & Uncle).

There are no known Willingales in currently living in Canada, however through this website we have been in touch with 3 Canadian Cousins. We know that in 1881 there were 4 Willingales in Canada -sea captain Mark (born Maldon, Essex), his wife Mary (born Batson) -- and their 2 children -Amelia Jane and Charles Herbert. They lived in Saint John, New Brunswick. Two other children died young.

Amelia Willingale, known as Minnie, was born Nov. 24 1863. She married Andrew Armstrong, on Sept. 25 1883 at the home of her father Mark Willingale in Saint John. Decedents. of this female Willingale are now in New Brunswick, Ontario, British Columbia and in the U.S. in Connecticut, Georgia, New York State and Alabama.

The Willingale name seems to have disappeared from Canada when Saint John born Charles Herbert Willingale, also a sea captain, married in England in 1888 and stayed there. His father Mark died Sept. 23 1889 in Saint John. His sister Amelia "Minnie" Armstrong (born Willingale) died Oct. 15, 1950.

The United States has two Willingales listed in the White Pages in Mid November 2002, and the Ellis Island website shows 10 Willingales emigrated to the US between 1896 and 1923.
